FLAMES OF FIRE

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Uncategorized

There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush” (Exodus 3:2a).

I have two Burning Bush shrubs in front of my house. They turn a brilliant red in the fall. But they don’t talk to me.

The Lord works in mysterious ways, and this is one of those mysterious ways. Why would God want to speak to Moses from a fiery bush? Why not a donkey? or at least a prophet or prophetess?

The Bible says that God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29). When God led Israel those 40 years in the wilderness, He appeared as a pillar of fire. And when the Holy Spirit fell upon the 120 in the Upper Room, he appeared as tongues of fire upon each of them. God clearly is associated with fire. So, the bush is irrelevant; its the fire that wouldn’t burn out that represents God.

God can speak to us through any means He chooses. Watch for Him today, for where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
