REMEMBERING JEFF

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Remembering

You may have heard that Jeff Dorgelo passed away Monday after a battle with liver cancer. He was too young. I visited him a couple of weeks ago and asked him about his faith. I wanted to be sure he was prepared to meet his God. He assured me he was, and with tears in his eyes, recounted the story.

He was attending church and I shared an illustration that made sense to him. I described Jesus as a bridge that connected a holy God (Who couldn’t understand sinful man), and sinful man (who couldn’t understand a righteous God). To find peace with God we have to cross the bridge, which was accepting Him as our Savior. Jeff said he thought to himself, “That makes sense”, and believed right then. He had to do some growing, but he had crossed that bridge.

I don’t remember using that illustration, but I’m glad Jeff remembered and got it. Today he is with the Father in Paradise. Have you crossed the bridge yet?

What will you remember about Jeff Dorgelo?

I remember a time a few years ago when we introduced the new song “I Am Free”. Jeff’s son literally ran around the sanctuary during the entire song and went back and stood by his Dad. Dad said not one word. He just let him enjoy his freedom to run and freedom to dance. I thought it was a most precious moment. Jeff so cared for the kids… his own and others.

He came to our Hope group at Chuck and Joyce Summers house. He was a very friendly and caring person. You could tell this by his concern for others.

I personally will remember the 2 beautiful children I have had the pleasure of knowing because of him! There is no doubt in my mind that Jeff was an amazing father! His son Logan is a grand young man… that I have grown to love over the last 4 years at Lakewood Park. He often stops in to see me and ask for prayer. Logan will be a senior this fall and has plans to join the ROTC after graduation. His daughter Sydney is beautiful and I love to chat with her… and listen to her play the piano! My heart & prayers go out to these young children… whom has lost their father at such a young age.
