WARNING LABELS

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Uncategorized

After a woman sued a McDonald’s Restaurant for being burned by hot coffee, companies started changing their manuals and warning labels. Check out these instructions:

  • On a frozen dinner: DEFROST BEFORE EATING.
  • On an iron: CAUTION! DO NOT IRON CLOTHES ON BODY.
  • On a peanut butter jar: MAY CONTAIN PEANUTS.
  • On a milk bottlecap: AFTER OPENING, KEEP UPRIGHT.

If some people need these obvious guidelines on household items, think about how much more we need God’s direction. Psalm 119 tells of the importance of His instruction manual – the Bible. Consider:

  • “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31).
  • “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).
  • “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

Even tho I have spent most of my life in church, my eyes are being opened to the vast amount of daily instruction and warning that is tucked between the covers of my bible.
I am currently reading a book about biblical discipline for children, and I am blown away by some of the verses the author quotes. I didn’t even know they were there! God has practically handed us a blueprint…and yet we always try our own ‘interpretation’ of what we think is best. A construction crew would certainly not be so bold as to change an architect’s plans….we should not take these liberties with God’s plan either.
