AUTOBIOGRAPHY IN FIVE SHORT CHAPTERS

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Uncategorized

1) I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
      I fall in.
      I am lost...I am hopeless.
         It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

2) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
      I pretend I don't see it.
      I fall again.
I can't believe I am in the same place.
         But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

3) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
      I see it is there.
      still fall in...it's a habit.
         My eyes are open.
         I know where I am.
   It is my fault.
   I get out immediately.

4) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
      I walk around it.

5) I walk down another street.

A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. Christ restores us to sanity. When we look through His eyes the world looks much different.

I would love to think that I was at a time in my life where I would always chose to walk down another street.
But reflecting back, to what has gotten me to where I am today, I can see that the choices we are given don’t always have the outcome that we expect. Or maybe outcomes are never really within our control in the first place. I do know now that as I make this journey the decisions that I make today are from my heart and not my pride or ego.
You see I feel that even as we believe we know the right choices in life, we are always going to be tested. Those holes are there now and then to either enlighten us our humble us.
Today when I see a crack in the sidewalk, I know that the hole is coming and I look to God and pray for the guidance knowledge for which he wants me to gain.
