INHERITANCE

Posted by: pastordiehl   in Spiritual Blessings

In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1:11-12).

In this case, the word “chosen” in verse 11 may not be the best translation. The original Greek word here is κληρονομεω, and means to obtain, and by implication, to obtain by inheritance into the family of God. The spiritual blessings we have come by virtue of the fact we have entered into covenant with Jesus Christ. However, He chose me before I chose Him.

Note also that it was God’s plan all along (predestination) to work everything out according to His will. Everything that happens has the divine purpose of working God’s will out in us, which is to glorify God in our lives. Although Paul and the early church were the first to hope in Christ, we follow in agreement. And there will be many more who follow after us. I’m praying for them right now.

Who are you praying for today?

It is a long list for certain. Always our families and the seniors and their caregivers. Today, specifically, our Day Care kids and their St. Jude safety project. Always on Wednesdays; the families coming before the deacon board this evening. Please join with me in praying for the needs of these three families. Also, we had first time visitors and people who had been away for some time at New Hope last Sunday. We have so much to pray for and soooooo much to be thankful for. My husband, BJ, and I feel very blessed.

Wednesday night the Bridgeworks ladies gathered and we prayed for Bill and Teresea Nelson, for his healing and for peace and strength for their family. They have endured so much, yet your post today encourages me that God knows exactly why He has allowed this long time of trial, and though it all looks bad to us, God’s purpose is higher and He will make all things good in the end.
