Does it scare anyone else that our consumerism has allowed to loose sight of what’s really important?

Excellent post, Pastor Diehl.

Mary’s Boy Child, a song written in 1978, the year I was born, says: “And man will live forevermore, because of Christmas day.”

I can have eternal life by identifying with Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross, not by believing in Jesus’ birth.

Don’t get me wrong, I rejoice that Christ was born, I celebrate Christmas, but his birth pales in comparison to his work on the cross!

I think the reason I’m struggling is because I have somehow given more weight to Christmas than to Easter, and I can have salvation without ever even knowing about Jesus’ birth, but not without Easter!

How did I get so turned around?

That was yet another item omitted from my early education. I, as you, will make this Christmas about my Savior more than ever… and hopefully will more so every year I celebrate this Holy Day.
