In 1976 Oral Roberts was interviewed on the ‘Good Morning, America’ television show. They asked him the question “Oral, how much time do you spend in prayer?”
He replied, “I don’t fragment my prayer life. I’m in prayer all the time. Everything I do is a prayer. And even though it’s not out loud, I’m in contact with God with my heart and my thoughts all the time. I do have sessions of prayer, but my prayers are an ongoing thing with God. I believe you can talk to God any time. It’s the way God made us – to walk and talk with Him. We should have a relationship with God to where prayer is a natural thing.”
Later, he added the following: “Seldom in the Scriptures do you find Jesus verbalizing a formal prayer in a time of need. Rather, prayer is a part of His very way of life.”
Jesus said: Men ought always to pray (Luke 18:1). Paul said: Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
