“On the sixth day of Christmas my True Love sent to me: Six Geese a Laying“.
The six Geese a Laying refers to the six days of creation recorded in Genesis 1. On the first day, God created light in the darkness. On the second day He created the atmosphere. On the third day He created the earth and water and vegetation capable of reproducing itself. On the fourth day God placed the moon to light the night and the sun to light the day; He fixed time. On the fifth day He created sea and air creatures, fish and birds of all kinds, that could reproduce themselves. On the sixth day, God created mammals and all living beings. Lastly, He created humans and God gave them the responsibility to take control over all the other forms of life He had created. That’s what the “Geese laid”.
On the seventh day God rested and admired His creation. All was good until Adam and Eve disobeyed and fell from that position. But, thank God, He also sent Jesus to redeem mankind so we can take back what sin stole away.

Reader’s Digest printed the following story contributed by Julie Tirpak:
“A friend of mine worked at a Christian preschool. Every day, the teacher would explain a basic concept and later ask the children about it. The topic one day was that God is eternal. After explaining the concept in very simple terms, the teacher then asked the kids what lesson they had learned. One girl eagerly raised her hand. “God is a turtle!” she exclaimed.”
The concept of eternity is hard for even adults to grasp. However, that’s God. He always was and ever will be. Everything we know had a beginning and will have an end. So, eternity is just beyond human understanding. The good news is, that this eternal God reached down into this finite world and invited us to step up into His eternity. We may not be able to comprehend the concept, but we are able experience it. And that experience has already begun.
“In the beginning, God…” (Genesis 1:1).

Carl Sagan was a scientist who popularized the naturalistic worldview which teaches that there is no god. One consequence of Sagan’s belief’s was that he was actively committed to the cause of animal rights, especially a refusal to use animals for medical testing. Such a logical stance was based on the belief that humans evolved from animals so there can be no intrinsic difference between them.
Parade magazine quoted Sagan as saying, “I have tried to show how closely related we are to other animals, how cruel it is to gratuitously inflict pain on them.”
In 1994, Carl Sagan was diagnosed with a rare blood disease. His only hope of extending his life beyond a few months was an experimental bone-marrow transplant. However, Sagan stood face to face with his own belief system. This potentially life-saving procedure had been developed by research on animals – the kind that Sagan adamantly opposed.
When faced with death, Sagan turned his back on his religion and chose to have the procedure. He admitted that the decision was very difficult, but when faced with choosing life or death, he had to realize that man does have more worth than the rest of creation.
