WHAT ITS ABOUT
Years ago I was preaching in the old building on a Sunday night. I was pouring my heart into my message and people began snickering, everyone at once. The snickers evolved into laughter. I wondered what it was I said. Perhaps I said something inadvertently or twisted my words around. I couldn’t figure out why they were laughing at me, but knew I couldn’t let it block the anointing. So, I poured myself even more into the sermon. But, every now and then the smiles and chuckling returned. I thought to myself that whatever it was I said wrong was really working in their minds.
When the service was over, I learned the truth. The proverbial church mouse had been running around behind me on the platform. What I kept thinking was all about me, was actually not about me at all, but all about the church mouse!
I wonder how many times we get so self-focused that we think its all about us. God’s promises are all about us; the indwelling Holy Spirit is all about us; our ministry in the Lord’s church is all about us; our failures are all about us. But, in reality, we need to not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think. Its always all about Jesus.
