MOTHER’S DAY

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Uncategorized

While I’m enjoying some time off for vacation, Pastor Sean shared the message for Mother’s Day. What is your favorite early memory of your mother? What does Mother’s Day mean to you?

My Mom bought school books and taught me at home when I was only 4 and 5 years old. We lived out in the country and they wouldn’t let me start first grade because of my birth date. Kindergarten wasn’t always an option back in the olden’ days. Reckon she was one fo the first homeschool Moms. I loved it.

I for one REALLY enjoyed Pastor Sean’s message. He shared from the heart and from his own experience about his parents and grandparents. Mother’s Day was kind of a struggle for me this year, and his sermon was the bright spot in the day. Thank you for the encouragement to continue one of the hardest jobs on earth!
I suppose one of the earliest memories is the smell of green beans canning. Mom canned everything, but I especially remember the smell of those beans. Now that I can for myself, every time I start up the canner, that smell reminds me of the work my mom put into our garden and preserving her efforts.
