WONDERFUL WORKS

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Uncategorized

It was an amazing twist of events that made me aware of the heart blockage. I went in to have my hearing checked. When they discovered my left ear hearing loss was greater than my right ear loss, the doctor ordered an MRI to rule out the possibility of a tumor in the brain. The MRI found no tumor, but did reveal “severe small vessel blockage” in the brain. My family doctor then called a neurologist to ask how someone with my cognitive abilities could have such extensive blockage. He learned that the blockage was in the external vessels, but apparently not in the deep brain vessels, which control thinking.

I cannot undo the blockage that is already there. However, I can control any continual blockage by medication and diet. And I have since learned that I can continue to develop new brain cells by exercising my brain, just like my heart by-passes the blockage if I exercise the heart muscle.

Isn’t it amazing how God designed our bodies to regenerate itself. But, we must partner with the physician and apply a little discipline. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” (Psalm 139:14).

Good word Pastor Diehl. We have spent so much time in the hospital the last couple of years, that I have heard many comments along the line of ‘God will take care of it’ or something like that. Well….yes and no. God WILL heal if that’s His plan, but he’s not going to fix cholesterol levels while you are stuffing your face with cheeseburgers and french fries! God will do His part, but we have to do ours too! He gave us awesome miraculously engineered bodies, but we still have to maintain them to keep them running.

Some Christians out there don’t believe in doctors, they expect God to heal them. I believe a lot of times God does heal them through the wisdom he gives their doctors.
