SUSTAINING THE WEARY

Posted by: pastordiehl   in Casting Out Cancer

Today marks the four week period since my surgery and I’m doing well enough to report back to work tomorrow. My first speaking engagement is this Wednesday night when I’m preaching a Thanksgiving message. I hope you’ll make a special effort to make this one-hour time a part of your Thanksgiving holiday plans. I will be sharing some things to be thankful for that the economy cannot take from us.

This is my final entry in the Casting Out Cancer category of my blog. But, I can see that this blog has connected us in the body in a new way, and I think I may continue it. I might continue to develop a daily blog devotional idea to keep us connected.

I am claiming Isaiah 50:4: “The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue,
to know the Lord that sustains the weary.
He wakens me morning by morning,
wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.”

I will ask God to give me a word for the body of Christ every day. Would that be a waste of time? What do you think?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I’ve subscribed to your blog since you first started in 2006, and read every post (although I don’t always comment).

I need all the encouragement I can get.

I totally agree with Todd…this blog has been a huge encouragement and daily challenge for me to keep my focus on God’s will for my life. Thank you for writing each day during your walk through cancer.

I surely agree with the others. This blog has been a great help to me. What a great thing to ask God for a word for us each day. Not only will it keep us connected as a church but also connected with God and his will. I can hardly wait for the first word. Thank you!!!!!

I agree…I have felt more connected with you and others in the church body than at any other time! Thank you for being so open and honest with us and for sharing your heart. This blog has not only given me a chance to pray for you and Anita, but also to be able to pray for the needs of others who have commented. Thank you again!

I will agree with the others that have commented and thank you for this blog. I appreciate the way you have been open with us regarding your little “speed bump” in lifes highway. I appreciate you sharing what you have thought along the way as well as how you have felt. Praise God for this victory and pray for His continued guidance for the future. May God continue to give you His vision for His church. May He continue to give you the boldness needed to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, that you are in the center of God’s will as is the church. I thank God for you, the work you do and the way you do His work. Praise God…

So many people, even believers, will hide away or isolate themselves when crisis occurs. That can be as harmful as the crisis itself! Thank you for seeing that sharing your burden gave us all a chance to carry it with you, and that claiming victory boldly from the beginning was the way to go! I will always look forward to hearing the wisdom God reveals to you for the Body.

Please keep the daily blog. I was actually wondering how you would find a way to end something that has worked so well as a “Hope group” for our church.

I have recieved many different email devotionals in the past. They are fine and helpful. But to recieve a daily word from my Shepherd is quite different. I hope you keep the blog going.
