DIffEReNt

Posted by: anita   in Casting Out Cancer

When we were in the surgical waiting area as Pastor was in surgery, Adam arrived carrying a bouquet of balloon flowers. This bouquet was really different! You could see him coming from way down the hall, and interestingly, heads were turning to look at it, as it was something they had never seen before. We put it on the table next to us, and heads continued to turn as we waited for a couple more hours. We had a couple of nurses stop to ask where they could get such a balloon bouquet. (Mary Dickinson had made it, and you can view more of her creations at: www.tinker.balloonhq.com)

Anyway, when we got to the room, nurses were commenting as we walked down the halls. The next morning Pastor said when the doctor came to see him, he walked back into the room and said, “That balloon bouquet is very innovative!”

All this got us thinking this morning. As Christians, we need to be DIffEReNt too. Do we go against the flow? Are we going along with others just to ‘fit’ into what seems normal? What if people had to stop and look at us, asking how they might have what we have? What if our character, thoughts, actions, words and motives were like the bouquet of balloons: Innovative and DIffEReNt? To get peoples attention we must! Lives are at stake!

I was looking at the picture before even reading the blog and I knew that it was Merry Heart that made the flowers. I grew up with her daughter and could spot her work anywhere!

What a beautiful and creative gift the balloon bouquet makes!! Pastor Ralph almost isn’t noticed in the background, as I try to figure out how she made such a thing. Sorry..

My great aunt used to be a clown and make all sorts of balloon art. I remember her making bouquets with balloons but haven’t seen another in the last 20 years. (until now) Get some rest!

It has been so good to be kept up to date on Pastor’s progress. Todd and I are praying for your continued speedy recovery. Much love to both of you!

Pastor,
I didn’t know you had a blog until a couple of weeks ago and I finally got on here yesterday. I started at the very beginning and read all of your posts. I have really enjoyed reading them. And it was fun to look at the dates that they were written and to think back at what was going on in life when you wrote them. You’ve given a lot of food for thought. Thank you for always pointing people to Jesus. John says, “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” You are lifting up Jesus and He will be faithful in drawing people unto Himself. I know that is your desire. You have been a stable rock for so many and have been faithful in pointing them to your Rock. Thank you for your love for Jesus. It inspires so many of us in our affections for Christ.

What a creative idea. Its flower power with balloons! It will probably last longer too.
