Hit the Bull’s Eye

   Posted by: pastordiehl   in Uncategorized

The news media was active in posting video of a Navy missile shooting down a malfunctioning Spy satellite while in orbit.  Can you imagine hitting a moving target like that from so far away?  That’s like hitting the proverbial needle in a hay stack with a thrown dart from a riding horse!  Wow!  How did they pull that off with one shot?

I think we’ve seen enough ‘smart bomb’ videos from the Iraq War that we understand the missile “homed in” on the target and kept readjusting its focus as it moved down its trajectory until it finally hit the bull’s eye and destroyed the failed satellite.  Staying on target and continuously readjusting its focus was the key to its success and hats off to the US Navy for pulling it off.

But we should also take our hats off to the Holy Spirit, sent on the mission to target our souls no matter how hard we try to hide.  On this deliverance mission, the Spirit of life keeps readjusting His efforts every time we take another step in a different direction.  He has been called “the Hound of Heaven” for His determination to seek out and and win over every heart.  Its wonderful to watch the Spirit’s unpredictable actions as He leads and convicts to bring each of us to be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.  You can’t hide from this spiritual smart bomb because He never loses His focus!

As usual Pastor Diehl is a capable word craftsman who can take a novel live action situation and practically apply it to the spiritual workings of Providence. Excellent, indeed!

the story is told about years ago when during much oppression many of the believers in a foreign country were forced to hide out in the woods to have their secret church meetings, but there was a spy there as every time they would get going the K.G.B. would show up and stop the meeting. Realizing what was happening the leader of these sessions told everyone the next time and place we are to meet will only be led by the Holy Spirit. Amazingly, the next meeting they all showed up at the same spot together except for one person…..yes the spy. could that happen today, where by the leading of the holy spirit we could grow, believe stronger, trust God, not just on Sundays, but all days. Yes I believe it will happen to those of us who get broken enough to where we realize there is nothing else that matters but God’s presence, mercy, and grace in our lives, to make a difference in others. Go to John chapter 4 and learn to worship God in the spirit and truth. All in Love Kerry D.
